Hello, friends!
One thing Memphis is known for is their art scene, especially the murals that seem to cover every flat wall big enough to spread some paint on. Recently, Dan and I made a quick trip to take the shot of us in front of the “With Love from Memphis” mural that I used in my last post. Included here are the murals located on the buildings surrounding the parking lot where we parked. Thank you to the parking lot attendant who looked the other way and didn’t insist we pay while we snapped a few pics. We did roll over to the street behind and parked in a no fee area to get the backside. Wowza!
There are thousands upon thousands of hand painted artistic expressions of this kind on buildings, in alleyways, and sprinkled throughout this city. I could never fit the ones we have seen into one post and we have barely scratched the surface on seeing what is here. My goodness what a coffee table book you could make if you could photograph them all! Here, I give you the sampler version of just one tiny batch.
Raspberries to whomever has to remind me that this post is “too long for email” there at the top of the page. It took me a bit to realize that just means you will see a truncated version instead of the whole post when you open your email. Along with having to expand the pictures if you want to see more detail, I feel like y’all can handle it.
I was hoping that the purchase of snow boots that are still in the box encased in tissue paper meant the snow was over for the season. Unfortunately, we are awaiting heavy rainfall and all kinds of weather mayhem, topped with possible snow (sigh) flittering in sometime in the next week. Tomorrow will be 61, although we are under a flood watch. Next week the temps fall with 9, 11, 17, and 23 being nighttime temps, with daytime temps below freezing most days. I know you can hear me saying geeezzz way over there.
We count our lucky stars that we are warm and safe and have everything we need here at Camp Cordray and hope everyone else does as well. It is set to be a doozy of a storm, so we may not see Grandfather Sun for many a day. I am deep in my projects and busy keeping the homestead snuggly, herding canines, and keeping the fridge full of homecooked tasty chow.
I am off to try to convince the Polka-Dot Bellied Princess that it is far too cold for her usual 20 minute morning stroll. I doubt it will work. She/we have stepped out in the fffreeezing cold rain on several of the past few mornings. Has anyone had any luck at teaching their dogs to use the toilet?
And hey, if you do the Valentine’s Day thing, happy Day of Love to you. We celebrate Valentine’s Day, and LOVE, every day here at Camp Cordray.
Check out the art, and LOVE with all of your heart,
Brenda Cordray

I LOVE reading your “too long” posts - sometimes to the point of thinking”I I want more”.
